7But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:7-9

Day Off, Day to Run

The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever. Isaiah 40.8

Beautiful day for a run, it is going to be cool, little breeze, sunny, the leaves are changing...what a blessed day. I am a mentor at a elementary school and run with a young man at least once a week and we visit and I try to offer him encouragement. He is a great kid with a ready smile and a very caring spirit, he offers encouragement to younger kids...I have great hope for him, I don't want the world to swallow him up. Get involved with kids, mentor them, encourage them, listen to them, I think in the end I get way more out of it than he does, funny when you give you receive so much back.

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm9:10

37 to 50, got to know the score

37 days until a 50 mile run. My plans are to caravan with a group of TATURS http://www.tatur.org/ to the Sunmart Texas Trail Endurance Run December 8th. A couple of the crazies will also be running the Whiterock Marathon in Dallas on the 9th. I plan to cheer them on from a prone position of leisure.

50 miles seems like a big step up from50k or 31 miles, but I just assume it is a little more suffering over an extended period of time. The Sunmart course is relatively flat and should be a good first 50 miler.

The last couple of months have weighed heavily on my training...life happens, I am excited to have a date out there, a goal to focus on, a running to something instead of running away from something which seems to be what I have been doing. Funny, same time on the road and trails and training and running for something is energizing where running from something just drains me. Ready to giddy-up and go.
Verse of the day that spoke to my heart.

Zephaniah 3:17

17 The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."

TATUR

Check out the TATURs...Tulsa Area Trail and Ultra Runners. Great group of people that certainly can endure.

So far so good...

Echo went well...Thanks for the prayers and the concerns, I give God a big shout out for blessing me so much more than I deserve.

I am ready to get back to some serious training, hope to run a 50 mile event in early December so I have got to get pounding. Here is another couple of places I would love to run:

Man can God create some beautiful things. Have a blessed day, push your limits, break out of the world's hold and be what God intends you to be.

Little bit of anxiety

Today I go for an echocardiogram due to an irregular voltage upbeat in my heart...several people have been surprised that I have a heart, but that is beside the point. I love to run, love to excersice, attempt to eat healthy, but I cannot escape my heridity, which is not so good when it comes to heart disease. I am sure that everything will turn out ok and I will feel comfortable pushing myself hard in my running again. Since my visit to the Docs about a month ago and getting not great news on my normal medicine and this heartbeat business I have really slacked on my running. Alot of it has to do with the increase of pain and stiffness, arthritic symptoms, of the medicine change...some of it has to do with the heart issue. Oh well regardless I am going to have a blessed day and I hope you do also.

Here is a test to see if your mission for God is done on this earth...if you are alive it is not done yet.

Bible Verses That Move Me

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Philippians 4:6-7

6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Malachi 3:9-10

9 You are under a curse—the whole nation of you—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.

Jeremiah 29:11

11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
